NIght Light

“Light plays in the shadows. Light Dances in the darkness. Like the inside of a disco ball. The shimmering of a star. Light buzzes with the intensity of a warm hug. Suspended in obscured perception, it feels weightless.

Light flourishes in the dark. Gleeful sparkles fling out in all directions as light splashes through puddles of colorful glass. To capture it would be in vain as light is far too agile in “It’s” role. Remove it all together and light’s footsteps tap dance across hooded stages. Light plays in the shadows. It’s fun.”

Swamp Gas and Gossamer

A wonderfully whimsical ‘museum’ of sorts. The man who owns it collects derelict items and turns them into various pieces of art, all unique and unpredictable. What I noticed most was how the light was placed in/around/near/behind the objects. With these photos, I wanted to try to capture the captivating way light moved in and around the objects, the things it emphasized, and the shadows it created. Enjoy!

If you are ever wandering in Downtown Fort Collins, stop in and see if he’s open. The building is located on Pine Street across from the Exchange. The best time to catch him is during the First Friday Art Walks. Ask him some questions about how he views art and objects and I hope you have even half as enlightening of an experience as I did.
